The Murder of Crows

I'll never forget that Theodore Roosevelt was the youngest president of the U.S., or that the Grateful Dead were first called the Warlocks, and a group of crows are called a murder, thanks to Trivia Night at St Margaret of Scotland School last night. (I was so SURE that John F. Kennedy was the youngest elected president but there was a "catch" to the question. Roosevelt was sworn in after the assassination of William McKinley in 1901, making Kennedy the youngest president actually voted to the office.) These are examples of the wide variety of trivia questions posed upon the largest turnout of Trivia Night history of St Margaret's.

Our team ended up in 4th place--missing a show by just 2 points. We were too good to win the loser's basket and not good enough to be in the money. But, the fun was priceless and we saw some old friends, met some nice people and made new friends. You ought to try it.

The Bathroom Progression

If you have been waiting with baited breath since the last update (in June, I believe), here is an update on the second floor bathroom. The framing is in and the drywall is up (but not yet complete). AND, we got the bathtub.

After weeks of looking at tubs, and weeks more of shopping for the "best deal," He found one still in a box that he wanted. A white cast iron tub. It weighs 316 pounds. Did I mention that the bathroom is on the second floor? This would take careful planning. He paced a lot. He measured a lot. He remeasured a lot. He paced some more. He would need help--lots of help. (If only the "Big Guy" still lived next door, He moaned.)

He called his brother. He waited by the front door to grab a neighbor. There's A.J. just coming home from church and breakfast. "Run, A.J., run!" I thought. But A.J. didn't run and He snagged him as he got out of his car. Then there were three. The following is a pictorial presentation of getting the bathtub upstairs. Did I tell you the tub weighs 316 pounds?

"I can't wait until Spring," He said...

I can't stand the heat of summer but any other season is fine--including the Midwestern winters. Last week was pretty danged cold here with temps down in the 20's and single digit at night, and sub-zero wind chill with snow flurries the size of dimes. He hates it, and every day of winter He will say, "I can't wait until Spring."

Well, He is getting his wish today. On January 5th, in St Louis, MO, it is in the 70's outside. While he is happily going about, I am worried about the bulbs--among many other things.
